This exclusive dual-course of both Mental Health First Aid and Suicide First Aid training brings you the ultimate package for supporting friends, family and colleagues, giving you the information and skills for when you need them the most.
"Know exactly what to do, and how to help, when a loved one is struggling to cope"
In this combined Mental Health & Suicide First Aid package we've brought together two essential training courses into one so that you can build the confidence and strength to help others at their most critical time of need.
Designed specifically for anyone looking to help increase their knowledge and skills with Mental Health, we will share evidence based prevention strategies to help see, and catch, the early signs of mental health, as well as provide early intervention and signposting techniques and advice to help you feel more prepared and confident in supporting Mental Health.
In addition, you will explore how to have a safe conversation with someone who may be thinking about suicide and learn how to signpost them to appropriate help.
What is it
A 3 day Workshop focused on Mental Health & Suicide First Aid Intervention to help you provide safe actions so you know 'what to do in the moment'. Created by the two most credible and experienced organisations, Mental Health First Aid England and Suicide First Aid UK, you can be confident that your training is both evidenced based and in line with the latest guidelines. We have put this dual course together specifically to capture the key interventions to help you feel confident when dealing with these often unexpected conversations. No prior training or knowledge is required to attend the workshop.
Who is it for:
Anyone wanting to feel more prepared in dealing with mental health. This powerful workshop has already helped hundreds of people provide safe interventions, which may indeed have directly saved some-ones life. Knowing what to say and how to support can be a daunting thought, so here you can learn a simple, yet powerful set of skills to help you overcome any doubt, fear or nervousness when it comes to Mental Health conversations and interventions.
"We are often taught Physical First Aid, so why not learn the critical life skills to help with Mental First Aid".
Key take-aways include spotting the signs for early identification and potentially stopping a preventable health issue from escalating. You will learn how and where to access treatment, learn skills to have a conversation with someone who may be thinking about suicide and know how to signpost them to appropriate help, using a first-aid approach.
What to expect:
This is designed to be a personal development and intervention based workshop so please expect some hands on, practical skills training. The underlying foundation of this course is for you to feel safe, as we know that many of us have already been touched by mental health challenges, so please rest assured that while this is about your own learning and development, it is still a safe space for you to explore Mental Health.
The decision to make this a dual course integrating Mental Health First Aid (day 1 & 2) and Suicide First Aid Training (day 3) is so that you are prepared for any conversation, even the most difficult. Please anticipate some potentially emotional conversations, however also know you are supported throughout by a highly experienced trainer and coach.
